In Memoriam: Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer

Anahera Press is honoured to host the article “In Solidarity with the Palestinian people. Memorial Podcast «If I must die»” by Maurizio Montipó Spagnoli paying tribute to the late Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer, featuring a historical background on the context of Palestinian resistance to colonial occupation, and describing the efforts made to create a multilingual podcast of his poem ‘If I must die’. The podcast is dedicated to the Palestinian people who live and resist with dignity, to free themselves from historical conditions of colonial occupation, racial discrimination, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide.  So far the project has accrued readings...

Launch Day

Mānawatia a Matariki. It feels auspicious to be launching this new collection, A Book of Rongo and Te Rangahau, at this special time. Ka mua, ka muri, walking backwards into the future – in this collection poet Briar Wood considers how the lives of the two wāhine toa of the title, nineteenth century tūpuna of Ngāpuhi, continue to impact their descendants today.
